Edward T. Gavin, CTP
Ted Gavin is a Principal with NHB Advisors, Inc. Mr. Gavin has worked with distressed companies for several years, serving in advisory and management roles for troubled companies in diverse manufacturing, service, governmental and healthcare fields.
Mr. Gavin’s engagements have included responsibilities as bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy Financial Advisor to debtors and creditors committees; bankruptcy and non-bankruptcy interim management appointments; business viability assessments; mergers and acquisitions; business integrations and strategic sales; corporate strategy and policy development and implementation; e-commerce and marketing strategy development; process re-engineering; and enterprise resource planning (ERP) system implementation and assessment. His roles have also included regulatory affairs management positions in FDA-regulated organizations, including the leadership of process re-engineering to remediate violations of FDA regulations.
Prior to joining NHB Advisors, Inc., Ted Gavin was CIO of an $80 Million manufacturing concern with nine locations in the United States and Canada, where he led the turnaround of a struggling and misaligned IT function. He established performance controls leading to substantial reductions in spending, reduced response times and increased service offerings. He also established performance metrics that led to significant reductions in A/R collection times. Mr. Gavin directed cross-functional teams that examined and redefined processes, leading to an increase in On-Time Delivery and more streamlined material handling processes in all facilities. He was also responsible for integration of a corporate subsidiary, which was accomplished while performing ERP system conversions in a compressed time period. When the business was purchased, Ted joined the new parent company’s efforts in developing a unified Information technology strategy, a process that he later led across his division.
Prior to entering the field of Corporate Renewal, Mr. Gavin held positions with General Instrument Corporation, managing global electronic communications systems and leading enterprise-wide projects. In that organization, he provided advisory support to corporate and divisional management for technology and development matters.
Ted Gavin is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, the American Bankruptcy Institute, and is an Associate Member of the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners. In his role with the Internet Engineering Task Force, Ted has contributed in various roles to the formulation of global technology standards, including being primary author of RFC-3098, “How to Advertise Responsibly Using Internet E-Mail and Newsgroups”, which articulates a standard for ethical online distribution-based advertising.
Ted Gavin is a founding Trustee, Secretary and Chief Financial Officer of the SpamCon Foundation (www.spamcon.org), a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving e-mail as a viable communications. In this role, Mr. Gavin has spoken at conferences on the topic of ethical e-mail marketing and advertising. As a recognized expert in this field, he has appeared before the U.S. Federal Trade Commission, has been a featured expert on National Public Radio and CNNfn, and has appeared in numerous publications, including Wired, CNET, Business Credit and others.
