Keith Northern is a Managing Director with NachmanHaysBrownstein, Inc. He has over twenty years of diverse banking experience covering both distressed and traditional banking. Mr. Northern has been involved in all aspects of loan negotiations, financial restructurings, Ch. 7 & 11 bankruptcy proceedings, asset liquidations, securitizations and sales. He has a proven track record for relationship management in complex multi-bank credit facilities in a broad range of industries, including telecommunications, consumer products, consumer and business services and media. Mr. Northern has in-depth working knowledge of commercial, asset based and real estate secured transactions and financial re-structuring.

Prior to joining NHB, Mr. Northern was a Senior Vice President at Realization Services, Inc., a turnaround management firm in New York. Mr. Northern’s primary responsibility was marketing the services of RSI which resulted in closure of multiple profitable engagements for the firm during his tenure. Mr. Northern has developed an extensive network within the distressed debt industry comprised of lenders, attorneys and other professionals. In working with lenders, Mr. Northern developed strategic solutions to meet the requirements of the firm’s clients. His technical knowledge was instrumental in facilitating swift acceptance of resolution plans by lender groups and allowing borrowers proactively to pursue turnaround strategies.

Previously, Mr. Northern spent 12 years at Wachovia Bank (formerly First Union Bank) in Richmond and Philadelphia, managing a portfolio of distressed credits in Wachovia’s Special Situations Group where the bank was agent or participant. His comprehensive portfolio of loans included distressed manufacturing, telecommunications, insurance, media and service-related borrowers. Additionally, Mr. Northern managed several loan portfolios aggregating $1.2 billion in various industries for which Wachovia was the agent bank. He also created a distressed asset management group, and implemented policies and procedures to ensure asset classification and oversight to provide for adequate capital preservation. Prior to his tenure at Wachovia, Mr. Northern was a real estate lender at several financial institutions including Bank of America (formerly Maryland National Bank).

Mr. Northern earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Maryland.
