Marshall D. Welch III, CTP
Managing Director

Marshall Welch returns to NachmanHaysBrownstein, Inc. as a Managing Director in its Philadelphia office, after senior roles in restructuring advising, interim management, and equity fund management in the U.S. and Europe.  He has 20 years experience in turnaround management and as a senior finance and operations executive.

Mr. Welch has served as a corporate officer and advisor to companies in various stages of transition.  He developed and implemented operational and financial restructuring plans, provided crisis management, oversaw performance improvement, and managed stakeholder negotiations.  He has also advised senior lenders, government entities, private equity firms and other investors in workout and bankruptcy situations.  Marshall Welch’s industry experience includes aerospace, automotive/heavy truck distribution, global power-quality and distributed generation, domestic and offshore software development, construction, transportation, and manufacturing.  His former clients have sales ranging from $2 million to over $1 billion.

Prior to rejoining NHB, Mr. Welch was Senior Vice President, Transition Management at Platinum Equity, a California-based private equity fund, where he assisted the management of newly acquired portfolio companies in integration and reduction of transaction and transition risks.  Mr. Welch was previously a Director at Alvarez & Marsal.

Marshall Welch began his career in turnaround management while serving as the Executive Vice President and General Manager for the ISP Group, BV, a $350 million privately-held distributor of heavy truck, automotive vehicles and spare parts located near Berlin, Germany with operations in 7 European countries.  During his tenure, Mr. Welch led efforts to privatize companies in the former East Germany and Hungary, and purchase two underperforming divisions of a major oil company in Germany.

Mr. Welch is a member of the Turnaround Management Association, Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors, APICS – The Association for Operations Management and the Institute of Management Accountants.  He is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor (CIRA). 

Marshall Welch received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics with minor studies in German from Gettysburg College, and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management, concentrating in International Corporate Finance.  His studies at Thunderbird included a semester at the European Business School (EBS) near Wiesbaden, Germany.

Mr. Welch also received a Master of Science, Engineering (MSE) in the Management of Technology jointly from The University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science and The Wharton School. 

Mr. Welch serves on the Board of Trustees of Lycoming College and as a Director for the Penn College Foundation.
